I got in touch with Mike Batcke from Stealthcraft a few weeks after I got home from AK. With pockets full of money I knew it was time to get a new drift boat ordered up. A few months later it was finally done, and WELL worth the wait. I might be a little bias because its mine, but this has to be the sexiest boat I have ever seen. When I first saw it at the shop I was blown away. Everything looked way better than I had anticipated. Mike gave me an run through of it and showed me all the little stuff that takes it over the top. Things like the drain plug holders, Oar tie downs, and the anchor caddy are small things, but take it above the rest.
I wanted to spend some time in Baldwin when I went to pick it up and get it on the water. A last minute trip to Hawaii this coming week had me making the turn and burn to just bring it home. I did get it on the water for a brief time. Mike wanted to get some pictures of before it left his possession so we dumped it in the Pere Marquette and rowed around close to the launch.
I only had a little time on the sticks without a load but I can tell this thing is a Ferrari. You can really feel how light these boats are compared to others. Extremely responsive and rock solid. Back row a little to break the current and it literally will float on top the water. Mike even stood ontop the side to show how stable they are when someone is entering or exiting, it barely leaned.
I could spend another hour going over the features and custom work I had done but im burnt out for the day, and i have a 6:30am flight to Hawaii to catch. Rough right…….? Ill leave you with some pictures I took outside this afternoon and you can get a good look how pretty she is.
Check out Stealthcraft Boats for the technical aspects Mike is using for his boats, pretty impressive. Ill add some more shots go over some more details later.
